An actor owns a small theatre wherehe both directs and plays. One day anunknown rich man, let’s call him a Politician, comes by with an unpleasant speechimpediment. He asks the actor to give himlessons to improve his voice. The reason forthis is quite simple. The Politician intends tobe a candidate in senate elections for anindependent party Civic Hope, which hehimself established. In exchange for thelessons, the Actor’s theatre will receive aninteresting financial support. But the Actorrefuses. He does not want to sell himself andlose his character. His negative attitudedoesn’t change until the theatre is deprived ofstate subsidy. Then he is forced to acceptPolitician‘s ‘generous’ offer. Gradually, thetwo of them build up a friendly relationship.
