Synopsis

This film is a personal journeytravelling through time and space to unravelhidden stories and rediscover objects and imagesthat at one time were an integral part of the livesof these artists through which their creationscame into being. It is a visual exploration ofphysical artifacts, personal spaces and livingmemories where the image speaks for itself,recreating the impression of each artist whilsttelling the story of Indian cinema. The filmdepicts the paradox of India’s relationship withcinema: the romance and the power, the neglectand the worship.

Director Biography

Shivendra Singh Dungarpur is an Indian filmmaker,producer, film archivist and restorer. He establishedDungarpur Films in 2001 under which banner he hasdirected and produced close to 500 commercials aswell as documentaries and short films. He is deeplycommitted to the cause of saving India’s cinematicheritage and to this end he founded Film HeritageFoundation in 2014. Shivendra Singh Dungarpurstarted his production house Dungarpur Films in2001. Shivendra's first feature length film was the2012 documentary Celluloid Man, a film about P. K.Nair, India's pioneering film archivist who was thefounder-director of the National Film Archive ofIndia. Shivendra’s second documentary is a filmcalled The Immortals (documentary film)
