Director Biography
Originally from Osaka Japan, Mitsuyo Miyazaki is an award-winning writer, director and producer. Her USC thesis film Tsuyako (2011, Drama) visited over 100 film festivals worldwide, and received 47 awards including DGA Student Award for the Best Female Filmmaker, and qualifications for the Oscar in 2012 and 2013. Her past work include live action/animated short film A Better Tomorrow (2013, Fantasy Adventure) for Lexus Short Films (produced by The Weinstein Company), Subaru Dramatic Cinema Series -- commercials and short films that features Subaru's traditional cars to their latest models. Her latest dance short film Where We Begin (2015, Drama) premiered at 2015 Tribeca Film Festival, received 7 awards at Idyllwild Film Festival, and currently in festival circuit. Miyazaki believes in the power of visual communication, and that it changes society and the minds of the people.
